A key difference between swing and swing-and-toss

... is that a swing is not intended to be a high speed power stroke, and a swing and toss is not intended to be a low speed power stroke.

Yet they both are great for developing explosive strength and power. A swing also has an added bonus for developing speed because you are swinging for speed first. And speed is what you want in your strongman event.

As for the best way to develop explosive strength and power, I would suggest to stay away from the traditional swinging motion. Because swinging motion is so unnatural, the body, especially the hips, never stops moving. It's like the arms and hands are always moving in another direction. That movement produces huge amounts of stress on the body, and many times, the stress causes the body to explode, resulting in a bodybuilder losing his control.

What a bodybuilder should do in an explosive strength and power power event is to utilize a different motion that helps the hands and arms work at maximum speed, while also increasing the speed of the body.

SWING, SWING AND TOSS
This is what I believe is the best way to develop explosive strength and power.
1. Sit on one leg at a time and lower your body toward the floor, taking a stance.
2. Now, as you raise your body, swing your body up, back, and then up again.
3. Finally, while maintaining your stance by holding your hips above your shoulders, lower your body to the floor.
4. Repeat this motion several times.
5. This is what allows the body to maximize strength and power. The power comes from the hands and arms as you swing for speed first, then your feet for power. The main goal is to work at maximum speed, with the arms and hands, and the legs and feet following after, so that the body is explosive in power. A swing provides the maximum amount of power, the swing motion also creates a tremendous amount of stress on the body so don't overdo it!
